Fishing - The Tarn South France

Both course and fly fishing are available in the area surrounding Le Phénix. A fishing permit is required, which can be bought locally and requires a photo, which covers all fishing whether river or lake.

Down in Rabastens on the banks of the Tarn both fly and course fishing can be practised.

A holiday permit costs approximately €20 and covers fishing in all waters throughout the Tarn. Night fishing for Carp is authorised on certain stretches of river in the area from 1st May until the last Sunday in October – fly only. Bait and tackle are available in a shop in St Sulpice.
On the Tarn you could hope to catch Carp, Perch, Cat Fish, Roach and Bleak.

Lac des Auzerels, just 5 minutes down the road, is full of Perch, Carp, Trout and other varieties and is very popular with the local fishermen! Just a short drive away, the other side of Gaillac, is the Barage de Rivieres which is also on the Tarn River and boats are available for hire.

Fishing guides in English and French are available which give detailed information on where and when to fish.
