We arrived in the Lot region of France nearly 8 years ago and moved to the Tarn just over 4 years ago. Tim was a very busy reinsurance broker in the London but was travelling many months of the year and family life no longer existed so we took the plunge and got out of the rat race! We were very keen to do up a 'wreck' and that is what we found. Le Phénix takes its name from the condition of the house when we bought it - that is to say a burnt out shell!! She has truly blossomed and is in her full glory now. Have a look at these pictures and see how mad we really were. The neighbours cannot believe the transformation - we need to look back to see where we came from in order to really appreciate where we are today!!
We have two children, a 14 year old boy (Edward) and a 5 year old daughter (Amélia). We also have one chocolate Labrador, Moley and the odd cat or two when they decide they are hungry!
We were very fortunate that a neighbour visited us in August 2003, 6 months before the building works were finished, to look at the house with a view to using it to host seminars. Since January 2004, we have hosted manyo two/three day seminars and on average catering, during these periods, 35 to 70 meals!
Our clients have encouraged us to continue with the seminars and have recommended other clients to use our facilities both professionally and for weekend breaks.
Word of mouth has brought us our clients to date, but in order to broaden out scope, we have set up this website to help you find your ideal retreat.
